Background
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative technology across healthcare and education sectors. In medical education, AI offers innovative approaches to teaching, learning, assessment, simulation, and personalized educational experiences. The integration of AI into medical curricula has the potential to enhance learning outcomes, improve clinical reasoning skills, and prepare future healthcare professionals for AI-enabled healthcare systems.
Objective
This study aims to evaluate the integration of Artificial Intelligence in medical education, examine its benefits and challenges, and explore future opportunities for AI-driven learning environments.
Methods
A mixed-methods study was conducted among 500 medical students, faculty members, and educational administrators from medical institutions. Quantitative data were collected through structured questionnaires, while qualitative insights were obtained through interviews and focus group discussions. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, thematic analysis, and comparative evaluation methods.
Results
Approximately 78.4% of participants reported positive perceptions regarding AI integration in medical education. Personalized learning (82.1%), virtual simulations (76.8%), automated assessments (71.5%), and AI-powered tutoring systems (68.9%) were identified as major benefits. Key challenges included ethical concerns (42.6%), data privacy issues (39.8%), faculty training requirements (47.5%), and overdependence on technology (35.7%).
Conclusion
Artificial Intelligence has significant potential to revolutionize medical education through personalized learning, adaptive assessment, intelligent tutoring systems, and clinical simulations. Successful implementation requires careful attention to ethical considerations, faculty development, curriculum redesign, and responsible AI governance.
