Human and Animal Rights

The European Journal of Medical Practitioners (EJMP) is committed to ensuring that all published research involving human participants and animals is conducted in accordance with internationally recognized ethical principles. The journal follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Declaration of Helsinki, and other applicable national and international regulations governing ethical research.

Research Involving Human Participants

Research involving human participants must be conducted with respect for the dignity, rights, safety, and well-being of all individuals. Authors must ensure that all studies comply with the ethical principles outlined in the latest revision of the Declaration of Helsinki and applicable institutional and national guidelines.

Manuscripts describing research involving human participants must include:

  • Approval from an appropriate Institutional Review Board (IRB), Ethics Committee, or equivalent ethics review body before the commencement of the study.
  • The name of the approving ethics committee and the approval or reference number, where applicable.
  • A statement confirming that the study was conducted in accordance with recognized ethical standards.
  • Confirmation that informed consent was obtained from all participants or their legally authorized representatives.
  • Additional consent for the publication of identifiable patient information, images, or clinical details whenever applicable.

The journal reserves the right to request copies of ethical approval documents or consent forms during the editorial review process.

Research Involving Animals

Studies involving animals must be designed and conducted in accordance with internationally accepted standards for the ethical care and use of laboratory animals and must comply with applicable institutional and national regulations.

Authors should ensure that:

  • Animal experiments received prior approval from the appropriate Animal Ethics Committee or Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), or an equivalent regulatory authority.
  • The manuscript identifies the approving committee and approval number where applicable.
  • Experimental procedures minimized pain, distress, and unnecessary suffering.
  • The number of animals used was scientifically justified, and appropriate welfare measures were implemented throughout the study.

The journal encourages adherence to the principles of Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement (the 3Rs) in all animal research.

Ethical Oversight

The Editorial Office may request additional documentation to verify compliance with ethical requirements at any stage of the editorial process. Manuscripts that fail to demonstrate appropriate ethical approval, informed consent, or compliance with accepted human or animal research standards may be rejected or withdrawn from consideration.

Where concerns regarding ethical conduct arise after publication, EJMP will investigate the matter in accordance with the recommendations of COPE and ICMJE. Appropriate actions may include the publication of corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions when necessary to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

Commitment to Ethical Research

The European Journal of Medical Practitioners (EJMP) is dedicated to promoting responsible and ethical research involving human participants and animals. Compliance with internationally recognized ethical standards is a fundamental requirement for publication and reflects the journal's commitment to protecting research participants, ensuring animal welfare, and maintaining the highest standards of scientific integrity.
