Corrections and Retractions

The European Journal of Medical Practitioners (EJMP) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the scholarly record. When errors or concerns regarding published articles are identified, the journal will take appropriate corrective action in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

Corrections

A correction may be published when an error is identified that affects the accuracy or clarity of a published article but does not invalidate its overall scientific findings or conclusions.

Corrections may be issued for:

  • Errors in author names, affiliations, or contact information.
  • Minor inaccuracies in figures, tables, or references.
  • Typographical or formatting errors that affect interpretation.
  • Omissions in acknowledgments, funding information, or conflict of interest disclosures.
  • Other factual errors that require clarification.

All corrections will be clearly linked to the original article to maintain the transparency and integrity of the scholarly record.

Retractions

A published article may be retracted if there is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable due to research misconduct or serious error.

Reasons for retraction may include:

  • Plagiarism.
  • Duplicate or redundant publication.
  • Data fabrication or falsification.
  • Image manipulation.
  • Major methodological or analytical errors that invalidate the findings.
  • Unethical research practices or lack of required ethical approval.
  • Failure to obtain informed consent where applicable.
  • Serious authorship or publication ethics violations.

Retraction decisions are made following a thorough investigation conducted in accordance with COPE guidance. Authors will be given an opportunity to respond before a final decision is reached.

Expressions of Concern

If serious concerns arise regarding the integrity of a published article but the available evidence is inconclusive or an institutional investigation is ongoing, the journal may publish an Expression of Concern to inform readers while the matter is being investigated.

The Expression of Concern may be updated, replaced by a correction, or followed by a retraction once the investigation has been completed.

Retraction Notices

Retractions will be published as separate, clearly identified notices and will remain permanently linked to the original article.

Whenever possible:

  • The original article will remain accessible as part of the scholarly record.
  • The article will be clearly marked as Retracted.
  • The reason for the retraction will be explained transparently.
  • Retraction notices will identify who initiated the retraction (e.g., authors, editors, or publisher).

Author-Initiated Corrections

Authors who discover significant errors in their published work are expected to notify the Editorial Office promptly and cooperate fully in correcting or retracting the article where appropriate.

Editorial Responsibility

The Editorial Office is responsible for evaluating reported errors or allegations concerning published articles. Decisions regarding corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions are made fairly, transparently, and independently, following internationally accepted ethical standards.

Compliance with International Standards

The European Journal of Medical Practitioners (EJMP) follows the recommendations and COPE Flowcharts issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the guidance of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) when addressing post-publication issues.

Commitment to the Scholarly Record

The European Journal of Medical Practitioners (EJMP) is dedicated to preserving the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of the scientific literature. Corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions are implemented whenever necessary to ensure that the published record remains trustworthy, reliable, and consistent with the highest standards of ethical scholarly publishing.
