Policy of Screening for Plagiarism Process

The European Journal of Medical Practitioners (EJMP) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. To ensure the originality and authenticity of all published research, every manuscript submitted to the journal is screened for plagiarism before entering the peer-review process.

Plagiarism Screening

EJMP uses Turnitin as its primary plagiarism detection software to evaluate the similarity of submitted manuscripts. Authors are required to submit a Turnitin Plagiarism Report along with their manuscript at the time of submission.

The Editorial Office independently reviews the submitted similarity report and may perform an additional plagiarism check using Turnitin or another recognized plagiarism detection tool whenever necessary.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • The submitted manuscript is original and has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
  • All sources are appropriately cited and referenced.
  • Direct quotations, figures, tables, and previously published materials are properly acknowledged.
  • The manuscript complies with the journal's acceptable similarity limits before submission.
  • A current Turnitin Plagiarism Report is included with the submission package.

Failure to submit a plagiarism report may delay the editorial assessment or result in the manuscript being returned to the authors.

Editorial Assessment

During the plagiarism screening process, the Editorial Office evaluates not only the overall similarity percentage but also the nature and source of the matched content. Legitimate similarities arising from references, standard scientific terminology, methodological descriptions, or properly cited quotations are assessed separately from potential plagiarism.

Editorial decisions are based on both the similarity report and the academic context of the identified matches.

Unacceptable Practices

The journal considers the following practices to be unethical and unacceptable:

  • Plagiarism.
  • Self-plagiarism or text recycling without appropriate citation.
  • Duplicate or redundant publication.
  • Patchwriting.
  • Fabrication or manipulation of citations.
  • Unauthorized use of copyrighted material.

Any confirmed instance of plagiarism or other forms of publication misconduct may result in rejection of the manuscript, withdrawal from the editorial process, publication of a correction or retraction, or notification of the authors' institutions where appropriate.

Post-Publication Screening

If plagiarism or other ethical concerns are identified after publication, the journal will investigate the matter in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction where necessary to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

Commitment to Academic Integrity

The European Journal of Medical Practitioners (EJMP) is dedicated to publishing original, ethical, and high-quality research. Through the mandatory use of Turnitin plagiarism screening and adherence to internationally recognized publication ethics, the journal strives to maintain the credibility, integrity, and reliability of the scientific literature.
